Jan 20 AGM and film
Feb 17 Colin Blackaby: "Tugtender, Ferryboat, Tender and Tug to the Queens (Mary and Elizabeth) and Mulberry Harbour Heroine: the story of MV Calshot and how she is being restored". Colin, has been one of a small dedicated team of volunteers restoring this delightful old lady. He will talk about the work they have done and show a rare "docudrama" film about her.
March 16 Mike Goddard: "The Nuts and Bolts of Horology" Mike has just joined us as a member and he is an experienced clock maker; he's going to demonstrate some of his machining techniques to us.
Saturday April 16 Society stand at the Fordingbridge Model show (Avonway Community Centre, Shaftsbury St)
April 20 George Ray: "My Life as an Engineer" Last year George came to us in June and gave us a cracking talk about the amazing William Stroudley and his iconic tank engines. On this occasion he will be talking about a life spent in many different engineering roles.

May 18 Simon Bowditch: "The Hackworth Valve Gear for Steam Locomotives" Simon has talked to us in the past about the mineral lines in North Somerset; that was a very interesting and enjoyable talk, but it turns out that Simon is also an expert on valve gears, and this talk will explain the iconic early valve gear invented by John Wesley Hackworth (1820-1891) that is to be found on several smaller tank engines, but which also evolved into other forms in more glamourous contexts.

August 17 August 17 Sean Devine: "A model (The Model !) of the Wiltshire Air Ambulance" Sean is an aero modeller and has kindly agreed to bring his magnificent model along and to chat to us about how he built it, and with a little bit about the work of the actual Air Ambulance.

Meetings are held at Porton Memorial Hall unless another venue is specified for a particular meeting.
